A domain name is the address of your website - www.companyname.co.uk for example. Each website should have a simple, easy to remember domain.
Additional domains can point to the same website, which is useful if you often refer to yourself by similar names (eg. company.co.uk or companysolutions.co.uk). We recommend that additional domains always redirect rather than mirror a site, because otherwise search engines will not be able to add up the popularity of your site correctly and it could come lower in the search engine results.
Buying primary domains costs money, but thereafter subdomains are free, so you can set up related but different websites on sales.company.co.uk or support.company.co.uk without additional charge. This is useful for organising larger sites.
We can host an unlimited number of email addresses for each account.
For each email address, you can choose whether mail should be redirected to another email address or directed to a local mailbox. There is also the option of nominating a "catch-all" mailbox which will collect any emails sent to your domain which did not match a valid address.

Our websites (in particular our off-the-shelf products and pre-built components) are designed to work best on our servers. It is usually possible to transfer them to alternative locations, but that process is often not without issue (the most frequent issue being different versions of or limited availability of server software).
To avoid any hiccups we recommend that we host your website. If we do not also host your domain service this will require your domain host to repoint a DNS record to our webserver.
We can develop for specific alternative servers but we may require extensive access, cooperation from administrators and additional charges if we must adapt software for the alternative environment.
We can also host HTTPS (HTTP over SSL) services. This service includes obtaining the required SSL certificates.
